Soul Focus
If souls had eyes I think mine would need glasses. Honestly…I find it hard to focus. Why? I live in LA the most distracting place in the WORLD. The city of Angles has more things to get your attention from Fairfax to La Brea than the entire state of Ohio (Sorry JR). Even as I type this there are sounds outside my window that I can’t control overloading my brain with images much more tangible than the eternal mysteries my soul hungers for. How can I seek God amidst the beautiful distractions of southern California? I know I’m not alone. I am one of over 10 million with this same dilemma. Let us discover this together. Lets call this…The Burn Experiment. How do you connect to God in the chaos?
Find a quiet place, preferably where you can observe and appeciate some of God's beautiful creation. Begin with praise and thanksgiving. Once you start naming the things you have to be thankful for it's amazing how many things we have just been taking for granted. Then ask God to open your eyes and ears to hear and see what He wants to communicate to you today. Read a portion of scripture and ask God to help you apply it to your life.
Probably the most difficult things to do in our generation is to quiet our spirits, and just rest and listen to His heart.. I think if we can learn to deeply and radically guard that part of our being that is in tune with Him, it is a big key to how sensitive we are to His Voice. This can be done whether we're on the Net, or at work, ministering or during family time, etc. In HIm we live and move and have our being. HE is our source of Strength, Peace, Wisdom.. without Him... we walk in darkness.
